Testing & Tagging Intervals for Electrical Equipment:
At 24x7 Test and Tag, our inspection and testing adheres stringently to the specifications of the Australian Standard AS/NZS 3760:2003, including the retest interval requirements of the standard.
It should be noted that whilst the standard contains a table specifying retest intervals, this should not in any way be relied upon without having consideration for the content of the standard as a whole. Additionally, other standards, regulatory authorities, workplace safety requirements or manufacturers' instructions may specify different intervals.
In general terms, testing intervals are dependant upon two major factors:
Firstly--the environment of use.
Secondly--the class of appliance.
As a guide:
Electrical Testing (In-service testing or PAT - Portable Appliance Testing) is necessary for the safety of persons using the equipment and for the proper discharge of the obligations of employers and employees, as listed in legislation covering OH&S matters.
The testing is carried out at regular intervals:
